Product details

  • Best management practices

Pelleted Payback feeds are manufactured using roughage, grain and grain byproducts, and fiber sources that are highly digestible and fermentable. They are designed to be fed to calves, heifers and bulls raised for reproduction and terminal cattle grown in the feedlot.

When new cattle are placed on supplemented pelleted feed, they should be fed according to a CHS Animal Nutrition starting program, which includes unrestricted access to moderate quality, long-stem grass hay and clean, fresh water. Gradually increase the ratio of pellet to forage allowing cattle to acclimate to the higher quality of feeds over time.

Bull Challenger® and Hi-En Bull Challenger® are specially designed to be fed to growing bulls or cattle that are being developed in the feedlot. These feeds combine roughage, grain, and supplement in a total ration.

Power Booster Bull Challenger R30 Medicated is specially designed to be fed to growing bulls or cattle that are being developed in the feedlot. It combines roughage, grain, and supplement in a total ration. This product contains flaxseed meal to enrich supplement with omega-3 fatty acids.

  • Feeding instructions

Products such as Hi-En Bull Challenger® and Bull Challenger® should be hand-fed in bunks. Once daily consumption reaches 10 pounds, dividing the daily ration into two equal feedings is suggested. Keep fresh feed and water available to the animals at all times. Adapting cattle to self-feeders requires a high level of management to reduce the risk of bloat and other digestive disturbances. Because of this, self-feeding is not recommended or encouraged by CHS and is a producer risk.

Feed Power Booster Bull Challenger R30 Medicated at a rate to provide 0.14 to 0.42 milligrams of monensin per pound of bodyweight per day depending on the severity of the challenge. Do not exceed 480 milligrams of monensin per head per day. This corresponds to 0.93 to 2.8 pounds of Power Booster Bull Challenger R30 Medicated per 100 pounds of bodyweight up to a maximum of 32 pounds per head per day. Feed continuously during periods of exposure to coccidia or when coccidia is likely to be a hazard.

Bull Challenger® and Hi-En Bull Challenger® are intended to comprise 40%-60% of the diet with the balance coming from moderate quality long-stem grass hay (7-12% CP, >50% NDF). This will help minimize management challenges and reduce the incidence of digestive disturbances.

Caution: Do not allow horses or other equines access to formulations containing monensin or lasalocid. Ingestion of these additives by equines has been fatal. Monensin/lasalocid-medicated cattle feeds are safe for use in cattle only. Consumption by unapproved species may result in toxic reactions. Do not feed to lactating dairy cows. Do not exceed the levels of monensin/lasalocid recommended in the feeding directions, as reduced average daily gains may result. For ruminant use only.
