Breeding/Calf Supplements

Every product in the Payback® beef line is carefully formulated to help improve herd health, fertility and meat production.

Please contact your local feed consultant for additional beef products and information.

Cakes/cubes/supplements
The Payback line includes three families of cake. 1) Breeder products feature the higher levels of trace minerals and vitamins that are needed to maximize conception rates in the cow herd. 2) Forager products provide supplemental protein, vitamins and minerals for cattle foraging corn stalks or good winter pasture. 3) Ranger products provide an economical means to supplement cattle with protein and some of the roughage they need to flourish on sparse winter pasture. Roughage Pro 52-15 is a loose protein supplement that provides excellent fortification of vitamins and minerals in a high protein package.

Developing bulls can be one of the most challenging facets of beef production. Payback bull feeds are formulated with longevity and soundness in mind while optimizing growth potential. A complete feed eliminates sorting and therefore gives you a true picture of a bull’s growth and reproductive performance.

Organic Calf Starter 15% Texturized (Click here to open a window and print.)
For growing heifers, bulls and dairy beef.

Feeding Directions
Start calves on feed at one week of age. Feed free choice until they consume 5 pounds per head per day. Do not feed more than what they consume each day to assure feed is fresh at all times. Provide adequate high quality forage or pasture and clean water. Do not feed old, moldy, or insect infested feed as it may cause illness or death. Store in a cool, dry place.

Calf Milk
Calf Cream 20-20 (Click here to open a window and print.)

Feeding Directions
Mix milk replacer powder at a rate of 8 oz of dry powder per 2 quarts of water (100° -120° F). Feed approximately 2 quarts of reconstituted milk replacer twice a day. For more aggressive growth for larger breeds or during cold weather, feed 10-12 ounces of dry powder per 2 quarts of water (100° -120° F). Calves will vary in feed requirements depending on size and age. Measuring cup in each bag has approximate measure amounts indicated.

For best results provide starter (grain mix) for calves when they are about 4 days old and feed free choice. Calves can be weaned when they consume between 2 to 3 pounds of starter feed for 2 to 3 days. Weaning time may need to be adjusted for smaller calves.

Feeding Directions
Calf Creep is designed as a free-choice supplement for calves on pasture or range grasses. Provide in self-feeders from 10 to 20 days of age until calves are weaned. Six to eight inches of feeder space should be provided per calf. Unlimited roughage in the form of hay or pasture and fresh, clean water should be available at all times. Hi-En Bull Challenger (Click here to open a window and print.)
Beef feedlot cattle complete feed.

Feeding Directions
Hi-En Bull Challenger is especially designed to be fed to growing bulls or animals that are being developed in the feedlot. It is intended as a follow up to Bull Challenger when a high energy diet is desired or it may be used where larger amounts of forage are being fed. It combines roughage, grain and supplement in a total ration.

When new cattle are placed in the feedlot they should be fed according to CHS nutrition starting program. After this period, gradually switch the animals to Bull Challenger, then to Hi-En Bull Challenger at a rate of 0.5 to 1 percent of bodyweight depending on desired performance. Dividing the daily ration into two equal feedings is suggested. Keep fresh feed available to the animals at all times.

It is strongly recommended that this product be bunk fed. Adapting cattle to self-feeders requires additional management to reduce risk of bloat and other digestive disturbances. Because of this, self-feeding is a producer risk. Although Hi-En Bull Challenger is intended as a complete feed, the feeder should include approximately 10%-25% good quality long roughage in the ration in an effort to minimize management problems.

For cattle on pasture.

Feeding Directions
Roughage Pro 52-15 is designed to be hand or free choice fed to stocker cattle or beef cows to provide the required levels of both degradable and ruminal by-pass protein needed to achieve maximum performance under grazing conditions.

Roughage Pro 52-15 should be fed at the rate of 0.5 to 1.0 pounds per head per day depending on nutrient profile of the other ration ingredients. Free choice consumption rates can be fine tuned by mixing with a good grade of stock salt to achieve recommended consumption. All ration changes should be made on a gradual basis.
